Maruti Suzuki cars get costlier from today: Here’s why and by how much

Maruti Suzuki had announced a price hike across its model line-up back in December last year, and now, the increment comes in place. The company’s latest price hike varies from model to model, but is estimated to be around 1.1% on average for the entire portfolio. The new prices come into effect from today, i.e. January 16, 2023.
The reasons that Maruti Suzuki had given for the price hike include an “increased cost pressure driven by overall inflation” as well as the recent regulatory requirements. The company had claimed that it makes maximum effort to reduce cost and partially offset the increase, but it has become imperative to pass on some of the impact to the buyers through a price increase.

As of now, Maruti Suzuki’s Arena portfolio consists of cars like Alto, Alto K10, Wagon R, Celerio, Swift, S-Presso, Dzire, Ertiga, Brezza and Eeco. On the other hand, the Nexa lineup currently includes Baleno, Ignis, XL6, Ciaz and Grand Vitara. Maruti Suzuki is also soon set to add two new cars to its Nexa chain of premium dealerships, i.e. Jimny 5-door and Fronx crossover. Both the new offerings made their debut together at the Auto Expo 2023and are available for booking.
Apart from the Jimny and Fronx, Maruti Suzuki also showcased the eVX electric SUV concept at the auto show. The eVX previews an electric mid-size SUV, which the company claims will be equipped with a large 60 kWh battery pack, providing a range of about 550 km on a single charge. However, a launch is only expected in 2025.
