Ahead of the Karnataka assembly elections 2023, an opinion poll commissioned by Asianet News Network and conducted by Jan Ki Baat has predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may improve its performance marginally in the Old Mysuru region, which is dominated by the Vokkaliga community. Additionally, the BJP is expected to maintain its strong support in the Coastal Karnataka and Kittur Karnataka (Mumbai Karnataka) regions.

In the Bengaluru, Central Karnataka, and Hyderabad Karnataka regions, the Congress is likely to give the BJP a close competition.

The current survey’s region-wise data is similar to the findings of the previous Asianet News Survey conducted in March-April.

As per the latest survey, the BJP is projected to win approximately 14 seats in the JDS stronghold of Old Mysuru, where a declining JDS is benefiting both the Congress and the BJP. The Congress is expected to win 26 seats, while the JDS’s predicted win has decreased from 22 to 19 seats.

Furthermore, BJP is predicted to maintain its lead due to its performance in Kittur Karnataka (Mumbai Karnataka) and Coastal Karnataka, while Congress is expected to challenge the BJP in the Bengaluru region. The survey predicts that the JDS will not make significant gains in Bengaluru.

The survey also suggests that BJP’s performance in Coastal Karnataka and Kittur Karnataka will be instrumental in retaining its power, with the BJP expected to win 31 out of 50 seats in the Kittur Karnataka region and 15 out of 19 seats in the Coastal Karnataka region. In total, the BJP is projected to win seats in four out of six regions in Karnataka, while Congress is predicted to win in two regions.
